ClimGen specification

The model is written in C++ using Borland C++ Builder.

The following processes weather variables can be generated:

Daily resolution

  • Precipitation
  • Maximum and Minimum temperature
  • Solar radiation
  • Maximum and Minimum relative humidity
  • Maximum and Minimum dew point temperature
  • Windspeed
  • Vapor pressure deficit
  • Reference evapotranspiration (Penman-Monteith, Priestley-Taylor, Hargreaves).

1 to 1440 minute resolution

    Storm events (precipitation intervals)

Extreme environments

ClimGen was originally written to provide synthetic data from cropping simulation models, consequently it has been more extensively tested for climates supporting agricultural weather conditions. Although ClimGen should work for almost any climate, it has never been evalulated for extreme climates or beyond the artic/anartic circles. (It has been used in one case in the artic circle which required minor adjustment to the trigonometric functions of solar angle).
